How do I take part in Natural Connections?

• Most people will take part in Natural Connections as part of an already formed group co-ordinated by their group leader. Groups might be from school, youth organisations, community groups etc. In some areas people who are not already part of a group might be able to join a group set up by a local provider.

If I decide to combine two elements of Natural Connections, like finding your way and journeying, does that mean I can count the time for both elements?

• You can combine activities for different elements in this way but you will still need to spend the same overall amount of time on each element. Combined activities would only count as half the time requirement for each element.

Can we spend say one hour a week on Natural Connections?

• An hour a week will not allow you to get properly involved in the activities involved in Natural Connections. We suggest that you plan your activities around half day or full day sessions (two and a half hours or five hours).

We’ll never do it all in a year?

• You don’t have to. Take as long as you want to complete Natural Connections - just make sure you are able to complete it within your age group.

If I take part in Natural Connections what do I get at the end of it? or
Will Natural Connections be recognised nationally?

• You will receive a certificate for each element of Natural Connections. If you complete all 6 elements and making connections you will receive the Natural Connections Award.
• Natural Connections is not currently accredited or recognised nationally. The emphasis is on experiences that have meaning and value for those taking part. It is possible to plan your own Natural Connections programme, combined with other activities, to achieve qualifications accredited by other agencies.

How much will it cost to take part?

• Contact providers to discuss the cost of activity sessions. This may depend on factors such as the size and nature of your group as well as the type of activity you wish to take part in. Contact you Natural Connections Coordinator regarding any registration fees.
